Pittsburgh Blue

Pittsburgh Blue BurgerSteak may be the first thing that comes to mind when you think Pittsburg Blue, but trust, it does amazing things with burgers as well. Located inside Edina Galleria, fuel up before you shop or enjoy a meal and brew after shopping. But it’s a great restaurant to visit even when you’re not shopping.

Here’s some inside scoop on the menu from the Director of Sales & Events Kristi Larson. “Our Bacon and Cheddar Burger is a guest favorite. This juicy, drool-worthy, half-pound burger is made with locally sourced beef, thick-cut bacon and placed atop a gourmet bun made fresh daily,” she said. “Todd The Axe Man Beer by Surly is this burger’s match. This brew is remarkable, hop-forward, aromatic, and finishes rich and dry.”

If burgers are not your taste, the restaurant has other delicious options to please your palate. Larson said, “If you’re like any Midwesterner who enjoys cheese, our Grilled Four Cheese sandwich is a must-have. This sandwich is smothered with four different types of cheese including cheddar, provolone, Swiss and American. To top it off, we include tomato and bacon on our thick, lightly toasted brioche bread. This dish pairs perfectly with Insight’s Royal Nuisance Lager for a fruity, crisp and refreshing finish.”

The Tavern Grill

One of Edina’s most-beloved restaurants, Tavern on France, now The Tavern Grill has expanded to five tavern locations, but this is where it all started.

There are two ways to tackle burgers at this hot spot: chef built burgers and build-your-own burgers. For those created by the pros, the Breakfast Burger is a must for anyone who believes the first meal of the day is a staple at any time. It’s a half-pound fresh Angus burger—grilled to perfection—and topped with cheddar, smoked bacon and a fried egg. Oh, yes, and it’s served on a butter-toasted croissant bun.

Feeling fancy? Try the Chicken Brie Burger, which is topped with Brie cheese, onion jam, bacon and spring greens on a toasted pretzel roll. In the build-your-own category, you get to customize every detail, from the meat (or non-meat) to the bun to the cheese, toppings and sauce.

Wash down your meal with a local beer in an ice-cold, frosty mug. And here’s a pro tip: Join the Tavern Club to instantly unlock special discounts like 20% off food purchases and 25-ounce domestic tap beer for only $4.50.

Red Cow

Red Cow Bacon CheeseburgerOne of the most popular areas for shopping and dining in Edina, 50th & France, is also home to a restaurant that has a wide variety of items to satisfy cravings, but there’s something to be said for specialists. Red Cow focuses on gourmet burgers, craft beer and fine wine, which is a great focus area!

He may be a little partial, but Red Cow’s Director of Finance, Michael Giacomini, believes, “Our 60/40 burger is the best bacon cheeseburger you will ever have! The patty is 60% ground beef, 40% ground bacon, and topped with Wisconsin-aged cheddar cheese, candied bacon, and our house-made beer mustard. It is really hard to go wrong with this burger, especially alongside a Steel Toe Size 7 beer, a local favorite. Their signature beer and our signature burger is the perfect pairing.”

This is, of course, just one of the many burgers you’ll find on its menu, topped with almost anything imaginable. Red Cow’s turkey burger is a real showstopper if don’t eat red meat.

Giacomini notes, “Our turkey burger has been on the menu since our family opened the first Red Cow right at 50th and France in 2013! It is made of fresh ground turkey, and we add some white bean and avocado to give it the burst of flavor that every Red Cow burger has. Don’t forget about our house-made lime cilantro aioli smeared across the bottom bun to bring the flavors together. This burger pairs best with a lighter beer such as the Indeed Mexican Honey Light.”

Red Cow has become known for what it does very well—burgers and beer.
