BRAEMAR ICE ARENA / BRAEMAR FIELD

The three regulation-sized sheets of ice are a hot commodity at this popular local arena‒developmental hockey players and figure skaters are there almost daily. Open skating sessions are scheduled throughout the week (check website for details) for $4 per person, $2 skate rentals. Also now open is the new Braemar Backyard rink, a new covered sheet of outdoor ice and a one-of-a-kind Minnesota amenity with an outdoor fire pit to keep spectators warm!

Located in Braemar Park adjacent to Braemar Arena, Braemar Field is one of the City of Edina’s premier athletic facilities. The new 400-foot-long, 250-foot wide and 75-foot-high dome is built for more than one sport’s footprint, making it one of the biggest domed structures in the state in the winter. The dome is taken down for spring and summer activities. Braemar Field also boasts a track that is available to the public when baseball and lacrosse practices aren’t taking place.

EDINA HISTORY MUSEUM AT ARNESON ACRES PARK

There is no better way to learn more about a place you’re visiting than to spend a little time finding out about its history. The Edina History Museum features rotating exhibits highlighting different elements of the city of Edina. In 2015, there will be an exhibit shining a spotlight on the history of hockey in Edina. The museum itself sits on a parcel of land significant to the city’s history‒a city park, Arneson Acres, named for Mort and Katherin Arneson who turned over their 14 acres to the city in 1969. During the spring and summer months, Arneson Acres features a multitude of vibrant flowers and plants, thanks to the combined efforts of the Edina Garden Council and the city.
