Whether you want to take a leisurely stroll after a day of lunch and shopping or hop on a paddleboat (or strap on some ice skates), Centennial Lakes Park is an Edina oasis appreciated by residents and visitors alike. The peaceful 10-acre lake is surrounded by pristine walking paths – complete with several seating areas—totaling 1.5 miles. Spend a lazy summer afternoon on the 18-hole putting course or play a challenging game of croquet. And when the lake freezes over, there is free open skating (rent a pair of skates for $6) or ice sledding (you can rent a sled, too, for $7 per hour). Warm up near the indoor or outdoor fireplaces and pick up a snack at the concession stand. Summer at Centennial Lakes Park also means music, movies and more at the Maetzold Amphitheater. Or check out the weekly farmers market, with close to 40 local vendors offering produce, sweets and other delectables. Visit the website for a full schedule of year-round events.

Designed as an extension of Centennial Lakes Park, The Edina Promenade is a beautifully landscaped greenway that connects the area’s various retail, residential and recreational amenities. The Promenade includes .75 miles of pedestrian and bicycle paths, resulting in a network that creates an ultimate urban escape, and provides connectivity for the community’s residents, employees and visitors.

The city of Edina is fortunate to have several venues, both outdoors and indoors, where public art is prominently displayed. Examples include Leaping Hare at Grandview Square Park, Dancing Sand Hill Cranes at 50th and France and Argonaut, also at Grandview Square. These three particular pieces are recent installations and the top finalists in the 2014 people’s choice competition sponsored by the Public Art Edina Working Group. Additional public art is on display at other Edina locations including the Edina Promenade, Centennial Lakes Park and the Edina Art Center.
